Productive Use of Energy (PUE)

Powering agriculture cooperatives in Uganda’s off-grid communities

About

The challenge: Energy access and food insecurity
In Uganda, the majority of working adults depend on agriculture for their income, yet many struggle with food waste, low productivity, and limited energy access. A significant portion of harvested food is lost due to inadequate resources and training, putting the livelihoods of countless off-grid families at risk.

The solution: Empower through clean energy entrepreneurship
New Energy Nexus Uganda provides a lifeline through our innovative Productive Use of Energy (PUE) Program. By targeting over 21,000 cooperatives with more than 5.6 million members, we’re driving sustainable agricultural practices that address food insecurity head-on.
