Our Impact Story

We help rural enterprises and distributors launch sustainable clean energy businesses, empowering them to deliver reliable solutions to off-grid communities.

PROBLEM

Limited access to energy

Apart from being home to Africa’s largest refugee population, Uganda also faces one of the lowest electrification rates globally, leaving millions without access to electricity. The gap is even wider in rural areas, where access remains limited for a significant portion of the population.

In off-grid areas, communities depend on candles, kerosene lamps, and firewood, leading to high indoor air pollution.

Solution

We deliver affordable, modern energy solutions to reduce poverty, drive economic growth, and enhance well-being.

Local partnerships

Our approach empowers last-mile entrepreneurs who are deeply embedded within their local communities. By partnering with Uganda’s community organizations, we develop localized solutions to enhance energy access.

These entrepreneurs help distribute affordable clean energy products.

Empowering refugees

We work with refugees to establish energy kiosks within settlements, providing safer business environments and reducing the need for vulnerable women to travel long distances.

These kiosks not only offer essential products but also promote sustainable businesses by offering financial literacy training, empowering individuals to manage and grow their enterprises effectively.

A proven track record

Our innovative model is globally recognized, with honors including the Ashden Energy Access Innovation Award 2021 and the Energy Globe Award 2022.

We’ve expanded our efforts to support refugee communities by establishing refugee-led energy cooperatives, ensuring clean energy solutions and safer business environments within settlements.
