A program under the grant project establishing an Energy Efficiency Incubation Hub in Northern Mindanao, under USAID Energy Secure Philippines

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Law (RA 11285) marks a significant milestone in the Department of Energy’s commitment to sustainable energy use in the Philippines. Although still in its early stages, RA 11285 is a groundbreaking effort in the country’s energy landscape.

To support this initiative, the “Establishing an Energy Efficiency Incubation Hub in Northern Mindanao” project aims to build the entrepreneurial capacity of individuals and companies in Region X. This project includes the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Program, a 16-week hybrid business incubation program designed to help renewable energy startups and companies in Northern Mindanao launch and operate Energy Service Companies (ESCOs).

Who can apply

​​Early-stage startups, individuals, teams, or enterprises offering solutions within the domain of innovations and technologies in energy efficiency and conservation.

Small-scale renewable energy companies who are seeking to diversify their service portfolio to include offerings such as energy auditing services and other products and services related to energy efficiency and conservation.

Note: Although the program is focused on Northern Mindanao, entrepreneurs and business entities from outside the region are welcome to apply, provided they have plans to expand their services into Region 10.

Intended outcomes

The program aims to increase the number of ESCOs in the region, which aligns with the DOE’s goals and initiatives in promoting energy efficiency and conservation.

Through the 16-week incubation program, the individuals and RE companies participating will be equipped with the necessary skills in piloting and launching EEC products and services.

Contribute to the increase in the adoption and promotion of EEC in the region.

Do I need to be physically present in Northern Mindanao for the entire duration of the program?

No, the program follows a hybrid format, with most sessions conducted online. The only in-person events are the kickoff activity and the closing session.

My startup idea is still in the early stages and currently in the conceptual phase. Can I still apply?

Absolutely! Early-stage companies are encouraged to apply.

Are there networking opportunities during the program?

Participants can broaden their networks by connecting with fellow attendees and learning from session experts. The in-person sessions will also offer valuable networking opportunities, as various stakeholders are expected to attend.
