Oakland, 21 September 2023 – COP28 UAE is partnering with New Energy Nexus (NEX) to accelerate early stage climate tech startups from around the world, particularly in the Global South. The NEX COP28 Climate Tech Startup Accelerator will be the first time climate tech startups are put through an accelerator program and showcased at COP.
“Climate entrepreneurs both big and small, South and North are going to be critical to solving some of the biggest challenges in the global clean energy transition. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with the COP28 organizers to deliver a one-of-a-kind climate tech accelerator program,” said Danny Kennedy, CEO at New Energy Nexus.
“If the world is to transition to 100% clean energy for 100% of the population, then we need more thriving entrepreneurs deploying bundles of solutions especially in the global South. We stand ready to support them to lift their voices to ensure COP28 is the climate solutions COP.”
The COP28 Presidency and New Energy Nexus invites applications from transformative climate startups and businesses across the globe with a strong desire to accelerate and scale their solutions.
Successful applications will be invited to the five-week program starting in November. The program will be designed to boost skills, validate participants’ business models and provide information on how to better access new forms of capital. Also as part of the offer will be “ask me anything” office hours for participants, as well as access to a speaker series with leading climate organizations, investors, partners and startups.
On-site at COP28, participants will also be able to engage with UAE partners, the opportunity to participate on the Tech Stage at the Technology and Innovation Hub, and tour the ‘Startup Village’ located at the center of the expo area.
